An FTP session is a session that is created at the time of initial connection to your web hosting account. These sessions are needed to enable your FTP client to upload and download files to your web hosting account.
However, should your session be idle for an extended period of time, your session may be terminated by the server, at which point your FTP client may provide you with a message such as "Session Terminated by remote host”. Below are just a few reasons why your FTP session was terminated:
- The FTP connection has been inactive for longer than four (4) minutes
- The FTP connection was interrupted due to a network or server issue
In most cases, your FTP client will try to automatically re-establish the connection to your web hosting / FTP hosting account. However, if not, you will need to re-establish the connection manually to resume your uploads/downloads.
