How do I check whether the FTP service is working properly?

Checking the FTP status isn’t a complicated process. However, to do so will require that you have correct web hosting permissions. Below, we’ve outlined a step-by-step guide on how to check the status of the FTP service by logging into WHM (Web Host Manager).

• Login to your WHM as the administrator
• In the left-side menu scroll down to "Server Status"
• Once under "Server Status" click on "Service Status"
• Locate one of the following services "ProFTPd" or "PureFTPd"
• Ensure that the status of the service is in the "up" state

If the service is mentioned to be in a down status, we strongly recommend that you try to restart it by using the restart feature. If your unsure of where to find it, please follow the step-by-step FTP restart process outlined below:

• Ensure your still logged into WHM as the administrator
• Scroll to the bottom of the left-side menu to "Restart Services"
• Then click on "FTP Server (ProFTPd/PureFTPd)"
• Once there, simply click "Restart" to restart the service and wait
