Argon software from Firstlight Networks, Inc. picks up where Sun Cobalt left off, providing users of the platform an upgrade and migration path. The Argon--available as software-only or as a complete appliance--maintains the look and compatibility of the older systems while providing new features and high-speed performance.
Argon is based on Turbolinux Appliance Server 1.0, so it includes the complete integrated Linux operating system. A system install/restore can be performed in less than 10 minutes on most platforms. Firstlight Networks, Inc. has added some addtional modules for increased productivity such as AntiVirus/AntiSpam, Logs GUI, and LCD controls (MSI platform).
The software sports a new but familiar look for an easy transition. Online updates are handled through the built in TurboPKG module. Software updates and enhancements are guaranteed from Turoblinux until at least 2009 (for version 1.0).
If you're looking for a replacement or upgrade for your Cobalt RaQ system, then Argon may be the solution. It's open-ended architecture and unlimited virtual sites means that you can host hundreds of sites in a small amount of space. |
